April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American, is among a select group of women who have been awarded medals at more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo in order to claim her third gold in the coming days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last chance to take home an Olympic gold. But she's confident top awards are within reach. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even play well we will get the gold. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck also. Ross, who was born 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing the sports of the Newport Harbor High School. She was able to participate in a myriad of activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. While she did well at indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her abilities were higher than normal. According to her bio her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. Additionally, in 2000, she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since the year 2017, Klineman had already been a major player on the beach scene even before the pair formed. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several significant tournaments during her time along with her two teammates. One of them is a volleyball legend. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. Together, they took home bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross started her college career with the USC Trojans in her high school days. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach and became a pro. Her experience at USC was impressive. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she led the Trojans up to the summit of the mountain netting three consecutive championships at the national level. As an individual she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the best female college volleyball players across the United States. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She is devoted to her parents who passed away. Margie is a source of inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
